One of India's largest record and video labels Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. (SCIL), is one of the latest to file charges against YouTube for illicit file sharing. This is not the first time YouTube has been placed in this position. Another recent case was the lawsuit filed by Viacom forcing them to increase their content filtering technology which is still being investigated.

YouTube maintains the stance that all their policies are made clear to subscribers that they are not permitted to share illicit files. They also proactively work with copyright holders to identify and remove such material.

These series of conflicts between copyright holders and online communities possess great questions about the future of how information is shared and monitored on the world wide web.
